چکیده
Games can be rich environments for learning and elicit evidence of students’ conceptual understanding inquiry processes. Illuminating content-specific gameplay decisions, or methods completing game tasks related to a certain domain, requires context that is open-ended enough students make choices demonstrate their thinking. Doing this also log data Game Learning Analytics (GLA) are granular look at the specific most relevant domain. This paper presents research done on student exploration high school level Mendelian genetics in multiplayer online called The Radix Endeavor. study uses three approaches identify decisions distinguish players utilizing different methods, looking actions tool use, play patterns player types, input patterns. In selected quest, were found yield insights into ways complete genetics, suggesting potential set more generalized guiding questions GLA field could adopted by games designers scientists convey information about games.

What makes a good game? Marketing wisdom indicates that the success or failure of a product depends mainly on how well it satisfies customers’ preferences, needs and expectations. Consequently, knowing the player and his/her preferences is crucial to design successful digital games. Hence, the really important question is: what do players expect from a good game? When playing a game, players se...

In this work we study on a 2-dimensional square lattice a recent version of the Naming Game, an agent-based model used for describing the emergence of linguistic structures. The system is open-ended and agents can invent new words all along the evolution of the game, picking them up from a pool characterised by a Gaussian distribution with standard deviation σ. The model displays a nonequilibri...
متن کاملInvestigating the Solution Space of an Open-Ended Educational Game Using Conceptual Feature Extraction
The rich interaction space of many educational games presents a challenge for designers and researchers who strive to help players achieve specific learning outcomes. Giving players a large amount of freedom over how they perform a complex game task makes it difficult to anticipate what they will do. In order to address this issue designers must ask: what are students doing in my game? And does...

Analysis of the radio tracking data from the Pioneer 10/11 spacecraft at distances between about 20 70 AU from the Sun has consistently indicated the presence of an unmodeled, small, constant, Doppler blue shift drift of order 6 × 10 Hz/s. After accounting for systematics, this drift can be interpreted as a constant acceleration of aP = (8.74 ± 1.33) × 10 −8 cm/s directed towards the Sun, or pe...
متن کاملDiscovering Knowledge Models in an Open-ended Educational Game using Concept Formation
Developing models of the knowledge and skills being exercised in a task is an important component of the design of any instructional environment. Developing these models is a labor intensive process. When working in exploratory and open-ended environments (EOLEs) the difficulty of building a knowledge model is amplified by the amount of freedom afforded to learners within the environment. In th...
